In this game I have been learning all about Highest common factor. I was given two numbers and I had to smash the fruit that had the correct answer on it. I found this game fun and interesting because it helped me learn more about HCF. I would recommend this game to someone that needs help, because this game will help them to improve.

The bright Light

The bright light

Standing in a dark lonely room felt as cold as ice. Breathing in deeply he suddenly noticed a bright light that look as if it was close, but was actually far away from him.  With steady fingers, he adjusted the special backpack on his shoulders. He had to reach the light soon.  So he quickly hit the power button on the backpack and knew he would be up there within seconds.

All of a sudden he felt nothing go up. He realized that his backpack wasn’t working and that he wouldn't be able to go up and see the bright light. Feeling disappointed but not willing to give up  he quickly looked around him to see if he could find something to help him get up to the light. While he was looking everywhere around the cold dark room for something, he managed to find  some old tools in the corner of the room. So he thought that he would use them to try and fix his back pack.

At that moment he grabbed the tools and opened up the back of his back pack. He noticed that the screw in the back came out so all he had to do was screw it back in place. Once he finished screwing it in, his face turned purple and a massive smile appeared on his face within seconds, because he could finally see the bright light.

Once he turned the backpack on he felt his feet leave the ground and him getting close to the bright light, he knew he would be there very soon. As he got to the bright light he felt extremely amazed at what was in front of him because he really wanted to see it and he was finally able to.

The race

The race

As he came speeding up the hill, streams of sweat rolled down the side of his face instantly. Not knowing what position he was in, Jack’s heart started beating fast which made him feel extremely nervous, His stomach turned and turned but at this point he was still determined to finish the race, so he kept going.

At that moment Jack had already made it  halfway through . He felt relieved because he knew that it meant he only had a short way to go, in a flash he speed off. A couple of minutes later Jack decided to start going even faster  but as he placed his foot on the pedal, his bike wouldn’t move not even a little bit. His bike was stuck in the dirt. Jack was stressed and worried at the same time because all he wanted to do was finish the race.

Suddenly Jack came up with an idea. He quickly hopped off his bike and tried pushing it so that it would come out from the other side. As Jack was trying his best to push it out, he could see others passing him and finishing the race. It made him turn red because he really didn’t want to come last. So he quickly pushed his bike as hard as he could and it finally came out.

When he got his bike out of the dirt, Jack quickly  jumped onto his bike and speed down the track to the finish line. On his way to the finish line he could hear the crowd cheering for him and encouraging him to keep going and so he did. As he reached the finish line and crossed it a massive smile popped up on his face because he was extremely proud of himself, and that he decided to never give up.

Persuasive Letter

Glen Innes School
Glen Innes, Auckland
26 July 2016

Dear Mr Hendricks

Room 7 and 8 are planning to organize a mini olympics for the senior part of the school without the teachers. I have some strong reasons why we should be given the chance to organize it ourselves and hopefully at the end you will agree.

To begin with, if we are to organize the mini olympics, it would give us a chance to communicate with each other and also use teamwork. By doing this instead of just one person doing the job we can all work together and set up something fun which everyone would enjoy.

Secondly the teachers don’t know what kind of sports we would like to play. They might choose soccer and when it comes to playing the game everyone gets bored because they want to play something else like volleyball.

Finally Leadership is a huge responsibility. So if we do this job we are able to practise our leadership skills, and prove that we can organize something without the teachers.

Therefore I strongly believe that the year 7 and 8 students should be given the opportunity to organize a mini olympics for the senior part of the school.

Your Sincerely
Jenascia

Angles

Screenshot 2016-07-27 at 9.50.17 AM.png

Today I have completed this game about angles. I had to try and rescue as many aliens as I could by putting the arrow as close to angle that was given to me. I think this game was challenging because I had to guess where to put the angle without the protractor and to me that was a bit hard. At the end of this game a was able to save 4 aliens.

How to play Gutter Board

How to play Gutter Board
WALT-Write an explanation about how to play gutter board.

Success Criteria
  • Use simple present tense
  • Must have action verbs
  • Use time connectives
  • Use passive voice

Introduction
Gutter Board is an outdoor game that  can be played in pairs or just one on one. It needs a triangular prism board and a small bouncy or tennis ball.

First of all are the rules. The rules has to be understood by the players. One of the rules is stepping over the line when throwing the ball, if this happens then the ball must be handed over to the other team and it will be their turn to have a go.  All ball must be thrown from behind the line.

Before the game begins the board has to be placed in the middle of the ground between 4 evenly spread parallel lines.  now  at the first line the ball has to be thrown accurately 15 times on the board making sure that the ball is caught each time. Once the ball has been thrown 15 times on the first line then move on to the second third and fourth line. On the second line the ball has to be thrown 10 times  the 3rd 5 times and the last line 3 times. While playing this game if the ball is thrown but not caught then it  must go straight  over to the other team for their turn.

If one team wins the game then it can be played over and over by other people which you can challenge.

In conclusion I am extremely sure that this is a cool game that can be played with friends or even family and it will be enjoyable no matter if you win or lose.

How to make a cementing mug

A cementing mug is a piece of art that may sound hard to make but looks very nice once it is finished. Even though it takes time to make in the end it will be worth it. If you would like to try this piece of artwork then follow these steps.

Things you will need…..
  • 2 long flat woods
  • A working bench and saw
  • A hammer
  • Nails
  • Cement
  • A container
  • Cardboard + Hooks
  • Sellotape
  • A mug
  • Paintbrush+Paint

Steps

First of all you need to make the frame. To do this you must grab your long piece of wood and mark it into 4 pieces making sure that they are each 20 centimetres long. Once you have done that you will then have to cut it very carefully using the workbench and saw. After that using the hammer bang 4 nails into each edge so that it will stay in place.

The next thing you have to do is get your hook and place it underneath the frame at the top in the middle ,then stick the hook onto the cardboard using the sellotape. When you have done that go ahead and stick your frame on making sure that it is on properly so that when you add the cement in it won’t move around.

Thirdly once you have stuck your frame and hook onto the cardboard you will then have to get your cement ready. To do this you first have to grab your container, then you will need to put 2 ½  cups of cement into the container along with  1 cup of water, after that then mix it gently also make sure that you mix it very well. If your cement is a bit too watery don’t worry because all you have to do is add a little bit more cement into your container. When you think your cement is ready carefully pour it into your frame and then stick your mug in the center. You will have to leave it to dry for 2-3 days or more.

Fourthly after it has dried up you then have to slowly take it out of the frame. Once you have done that using a piece of wood from the frame scrape each side of the cement making sure they are smooth. After doing this if you want you can paint it any colour you like and to make it look good you can also add a plant into the mug if you want.

In conclusion making a cementing mug takes time and lots of steps but the finished look is very nice and can be a really cool decoration.
