How to make a cementing mug

A cementing mug is a piece of art that may sound hard to make but looks very nice once it is finished. Even though it takes time to make in the end it will be worth it. If you would like to try this piece of artwork then follow these steps.

Things you will need…..
  • 2 long flat woods
  • A working bench and saw
  • A hammer
  • Nails
  • Cement
  • A container
  • Cardboard + Hooks
  • Sellotape
  • A mug
  • Paintbrush+Paint

Steps

First of all you need to make the frame. To do this you must grab your long piece of wood and mark it into 4 pieces making sure that they are each 20 centimetres long. Once you have done that you will then have to cut it very carefully using the workbench and saw. After that using the hammer bang 4 nails into each edge so that it will stay in place.

The next thing you have to do is get your hook and place it underneath the frame at the top in the middle ,then stick the hook onto the cardboard using the sellotape. When you have done that go ahead and stick your frame on making sure that it is on properly so that when you add the cement in it won’t move around.

Thirdly once you have stuck your frame and hook onto the cardboard you will then have to get your cement ready. To do this you first have to grab your container, then you will need to put 2 ½  cups of cement into the container along with  1 cup of water, after that then mix it gently also make sure that you mix it very well. If your cement is a bit too watery don’t worry because all you have to do is add a little bit more cement into your container. When you think your cement is ready carefully pour it into your frame and then stick your mug in the center. You will have to leave it to dry for 2-3 days or more.

Fourthly after it has dried up you then have to slowly take it out of the frame. Once you have done that using a piece of wood from the frame scrape each side of the cement making sure they are smooth. After doing this if you want you can paint it any colour you like and to make it look good you can also add a plant into the mug if you want.

In conclusion making a cementing mug takes time and lots of steps but the finished look is very nice and can be a really cool decoration.

Basic facts

Today I have been playing this basic facts game. I choose to do stage 7 because I thought that I could challenge myself and  try it for the first time. While I was doing this I found it challenging especially when I did the fractions and percentages because it was new to me, but I tried it anyway and got a few of them correct. At the end of this game I got 34/40 and I was astonished and happy at the same time.

Fraction Bingo

Screenshot 2016-05-13 at 10.00.43 AM.png

Today I have completed this fraction bingo game. I had to find the fraction that is equivalent to the one given. It was challenging for me because I didn’t really know how to work it out and I didn’t understand it, but as I kept playing it more I kind of knew how to do it. I think this game would be perfect for someone who needs practise on their equivalent fractions because it will help them to understand it more.
